Olivier Adoue

Matthew McCully

Singer songwriter Matthew McCully studied music at Bishop’s University in Lennoxville, before moving to Vancouver to complete his first album, Matthew McCully and the Matter of Principle. His sound is warm and inviting, hovering between the traditional and alt folk genre, with lyric-driven songs compared to Paul Simon and fellow Canadian Ron Sexsmith. In concert, McCully’s music really comes alive, as he captivates his audience with evocative lyrics, and warms the room with amusing anecdotes about the inspiration behind his songs.

McCully’s recent tour of non-traditional venues captured widespread media attention as it highlighted the capacity of heritage buildings, libraries and churches to become performance spaces for artists seeking to engage audiences in intimate concerts. At each venue, McCully shared the stage with a local artist.
